Reggie McFadden, comedian known for 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' dead at 57 - USA Today
Reggie McFadden, whose comedy career took him from stand-up stages to television shows including "In Living Color" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm," has died. He was 57.
His death was confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by his sister, author Bernice McFadden. She informed the outlet that the U.S. State Department notified the family that he had died in Tanzania, where he had lived for about 18 years.
The family did not yet know the date or cause of his death, she told the outlet.
McFadden was born and raised in Brooklyn and went into comedy as a path beyond the circumstances of his upbringing in the projects, according to his Comedy Store biography. He developed his act in New York before moving to Los Angeles and gaining wider recognition through HBO's "Def Comedy Jam" in 1991.
His move to Los Angeles brought a role on "Martin" and additional television work. His credits included "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper," "Moesha" and "Coach."
McFadden also appeared in 23 episodes the popular Fox comedy show "In Living Color," during its final season. His sketches included "Wheel of Dozens" and "All Up in the Family."
His subsequent work included Fox's short-lived sitcom "Getting Personal." He also appeared in "Little Nicky," the Adam Sandler movie comedy, and played Officer Burt, a neighbor of Larry David's character, on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
His stand-up work also included a "Comedy Central Presents" special, adding a solo television showcase to a career that crossed sketch comedy, sitcoms and film.
McFadden also identified himself as the owner of Olduvai Records, a gold-mining and entertainment production company in Tanzania according to his Facebook page. He released the album "Enjoy, Vol. 1" through the label in May 2025.
He is survived by his sons, Jaron and Myles; his mother, Vivian; his sisters, Bernice and Misty; and his brother, Kris.
