Regina Mayor Chad Bachynski, left, poses with the new city manager, Chad Jedlic. (Will Draper/CBC)Social SharingRegina city council has voted unanimously to appoint Chad Jedlic as the new city manager.

Under the terms of his contract, he will assume the role starting on Jan. 4, for a term of up to five years.

Jedlic is replacing former city manager Niki Anderson, who was fired by city council in 2025.

Anderson was the second person to be terminated from the city manager role in three years. Her predecessor, Chris Holden, was terminated abruptly before his contract ended in 2022. Both were dismissed without cause.

Mayor Chad Bachynski said the hiring committee included him, three council members and an external agency.

The decision to choose Jedlic came after a robust national search, he said, describing Jedlic as having a calm and logical approach, with experience in both private and public industry.

“One of the big things that we were looking for was stability,” Bachynski said. “I'm confident [he’s] going to carry that on to help bring stability to the city.”

Jedlic said his main priority is to continue to foster good relationships in order to get the job done.

“Things work well when there is a high level of trust between council and administration,” he said.

“When that trust is lacking, things tend to really slow down.”

Jedlic joined the City of Regina in 2021, and is currently serving as director of land, real estate and economic development.

Prior to that, he worked with Forster Harvard Development Corp., a Regina-based real estate development firm, and spent more than a decade in senior roles.

Council thanked Jim Nicol for his leadership as acting city manager. Nicol will remain in the role until Jedlic assumes the position in early 2027.
