The Regional Round of South NTPC’s prestigious Electron Quiz was conducted at the MMA Auditorium, Chennai, witnessing enthusiastic participation from some of the country’s leading engineering and management institutions. While one team from IIT-Madras emerged as the winner, another team from IIT-M secured the second position. A team from Rajalakshmi Engineering College finished third.
A total of 230 teams, comprising two members each, participated in the preliminary round and six teams advanced to the grand finale. Welcoming the participants, Shri S. N. Panigrahi, ED (HR) & Regional Head of HR (North & South), underscored NTPC’s pivotal role in powering the nation’s growth while simultaneously nurturing young talent and encouraging a culture of learning, innovation and intellectual excellence through such knowledge-driven initiatives.
The quiz was conducted by the renowned quizmaster Gautam Bose. The grand finale witnessed an intense and intellectually stimulating battle, with teams demonstrating remarkable presence of mind, depth of knowledge and composure under pressure. At the conclusion of the fiercely competitive final round, IIT MADRAS emerged as the winners, while IIT MADRAS secured the second position. The Rajalakshmi Engineering College finished third.
The winning team was awarded a cash prize of ₹60,000, while the runners-up received ₹40,000 and the second runners-up were awarded ₹20,000. All consolation prize winners were felicitated with prizes worth ₹8,000 each, a release said. The top two teams will advance to the semi-finals scheduled to be held in New Delhi on October 7, 2026.
