Rekha Gupta launches health camp in north Delhi, promises homes and school

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday launched a mega health check-up camp in Haiderpur and announced plans for a new school and health facilities in the area. The camp was organised under the government’s 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'.

During the programme, Gupta also met slum residents and said not a single 'jhuggi' in the area would be demolished. She said the government was working to provide better housing to people who have been living in difficult conditions for years.

Gupta said the tender process for the first phase of housing construction for residents of jhuggis in AU Block and AO Block in Haiderpur has already started.

She said suitable sites around these areas would be identified and housing would be built there. In the second phase, she said, the jhuggis around the Ayurvedic Hospital area would be included, and land near the locality was being looked at so that residents could be given better housing close to where they currently live.

The chief minister said there had long been a need for a large school up to Class 12 in Haiderpur, and added that nearly 5,000 square yards of land has been made available for the project.

She also said a tender has been issued for a new community centre in the area. A new Ayushman Arogya Mandir health centre has also been proposed for the locality.

She added that a 'Nirog Dham' would also be developed in the area, where efforts would be made to provide healthcare facilities based on both Ayurvedic and allopathic systems.

Overall, Gupta used the event to announce health, housing and civic projects for Haiderpur while assuring slum residents that their jhuggis would not be demolished.- Ends
