Report: Rams star Myles Garrett to be out longer than expected - Rams Wire

Los Angeles Rams star Myles Garrett will be out longer than the four-game minimum while on injured reserve. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Garrett is expected to miss at least six weeks while recovering from knee surgery.

He was "given a timeline of roughly six weeks for his recovery," and the Rams will be cautious with their top pass rusher, who they acquired in a trade with the Cleveland Browns this offseason.

Garrett is out through at least Week 5, which makes him first eligible to return in Week 6 against the Cardinals. Their following two games, which he's also expected to miss, are against the Raiders and Chargers. They face the Commanders in Week 9.

According to Rapoport, Garrett wants to beat the six-week timeline.

Garrett is determined to beat the timeline, sources told NFL Network, but the Rams will be cautious with a player they traded significant capital to acquire. The hope was the arthroscopic surgery to clean out his knee relieves discomfort and eliminates swelling.

Garrett missed most of training camp and preseason practices while dealing with knee swelling, but he managed to play in Week 1 against the 49ers. He admitted after the game that he wasn't 100% healthy and after the Rams returned from Australia, they decided surgery was the best course of action.
