'Republicans for Talarico' launches as Texas Senate race tightens - USA Today

James Talarico is highlighting a growing list of Republican leaders who have crossed party lines to back his U.S. Senate campaign.

Talarico, who is facing Attorney General Ken Paxton in the November general election, described the endorsements as a “first wave” in a Sept. 10 news release. The group, dubbed “Republicans for Talarico,” includes former mayors and state representatives.

"I’m proud to welcome Republicans into this campaign to take power back for working people — because the real fight in this country is not left versus right; it’s top versus bottom,” Talarico said. “My message to Texans across the political spectrum is clear: you have a place in this movement.”

The endorsements come as N+ Univision, the news division of TelevisaUnivision, released its Sept. 9 poll that showed Democrat state Rep. James Talarico with a narrow edge over Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, 48% to 43%, with 7% undecided in the Texas Senate race.
