Response from the Constitutional Court on Request to Present Gibran at the Judicial Hearing on Diploma Dispute

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Saldi Isra responded to requests to summon Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the evidentiary hearing regarding the requirements for his candidacy in the 2024 elections.

Initially, the legal representative of the petitioners in case 01/PHPU.PRES-XXIV/2026, Bambang Widjojanto, stated that he had sent a letter to the Constitutional Court regarding the request to summon Gibran.

"Permission from the panel, there is one matter. We have submitted a request letter to the Chief Justice, Jakarta, September 28. A request to summon parties to be heard during the evidentiary stage," Bambang said during the session held on Wednesday (30/9/2026).

"There is Brother Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Law. The letter has been submitted, we hope it will be considered for summoning," he added.

Saldi Isra then responded, stating that the request letter to summon Gibran has been received by the panel, but it has not yet been discussed in detail during the Judges' Deliberation Meeting (RPH).

"Yes, we have received that letter but it has not been discussed yet, it will be discussed in a separate RPH," Saldi said.

"So, serious matters like this need to be tackled in stages, Mr. Bambang, we cannot resolve everything at once, okay. Okay?" he continued.

Bambang then expressed concern that the request might be overlooked and not considered by the panel.

"I’m worried this might be forgotten in the RPH," he said.

Saldi then emphasized that the request has been discussed, but a decision has not yet been made.

"It has been discussed but not finalized," he stated firmly.

The agenda of this session pertains to the evidence from experts and witnesses for the petitioners.

The petitioners proposed three experts and one witness in this case.
