Revanth Reddy holding Ganesha idol draws attention at Hyderabad pandal
A Ganesh idol depicting Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy holding Lord Ganesha has become a notable attraction during this year’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Hyderabad.
The idol has been installed by Congress leader Mettu Sai Kumar as part of a larger theme highlighting 1,000 days of the Telangana government's Praja Palana (people's governance). The pandal also features representations of various government schemes and achievements.
The depiction of the Chief Minister alongside Lord Ganesha gives the installation a distinct political touch, setting it apart from the more conventional religious and social themes at Ganesh pandals across Hyderabad.
This is not the first time Sai Kumar has used a Revanth Reddy-themed Ganesh idol. A similar installation put up by him in Hyderabad during Ganesh Chaturthi in 2025 had triggered controversy.
BJP MLA T Raja Singh had objected to the depiction and sought police action, arguing that it hurt religious sentiments. Following the controversy, police asked the organisers to replace the idol with a traditional representation.- EndsPublished By: Nitish SinghPublished On: Sep 15, 2026 04:25 IST
