Rico Dowdle injury update after Steelers RB carted to locker room - USA Today

Steelers running back Rico Dowdle was injured in the second quarter of his team's NFL Week 2 matchup with the New England Patriots, but he returned to the lineup for the start of the third quarter.

The veteran was seen riding a cart back to the locker room following a mad scramble for an Aaron Rodgers' fumble on a third-and-7 strip sack about as the first half wound down.

The Steelers lost 37 yards on the play as the ball continued to get batted further and further into the backfield. It wasn't clear what happened to Dowdle on the play, but CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson cited that as the moment Dowdle was hurt.

Team reporter Brian Batko said the injury was to Dowdle's toe and that his return was questionable before he was back in the game to start the second half.
