Here's what's making news in the Riverland region today.

A multi-hazard emergency alert website launches in South Australia today, aligning with the AlertSA app to provide real-time information on bushfires, floods, hazards and severe weather.

The South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM)'s AlertSA bushfires-only app has been decommissioned.

SAFECOM manager of strategic operations Adam Shearer said the new website would provide clear, customised information.

He said people with older devices that could not access the new multi-hazard app would still be able to get information through the new AlertSA website.

Allergy and Anaphylaxis Australia says the current El Niño may amplify the impacts of hay fever in the Riverland.

The weather event can increase the chance of thunderstorms and dry conditions, which spread pollen further than usual.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting the El Niño to peak in late spring and summer, and persist into autumn next year.

Chief executive Sarah Emery said the Riverland had a higher pollen count, especially in agricultural areas with more wind.

The Berri-Barmera Council says it supports the reopening of Rocky's Hall of Fame and Pioneers Museum, in principle, through a community-led model.

The Barmera-based museum, named after founder Rocky Page, has been closed for several years.

Council corporate and community services general manager, Alex Cannon-Leyson, said submissions would be considered at the next council meeting on September 22, and a final decision on reopening was not expected until a later date.

She said the council would explore whether there was enough community interest and capacity for a sustainable operation.

A petition started by Barmera resident Danny Bocchino has attracted more than 500 signatures and 13 volunteers.

Waikerie has taken out the Riverland Football League's A-Grade premiership with a 78-point win over Barmera-Monash at the Loxton oval.

The Magpies went into Saturday's grand final as likely favourites after finishing the regular season on top of the ladder and beating the Roos by 56 points in a qualifying final last month.

After a close first quarter, Waikerie pulled away and kicked 18 goals for the game.

Bradley Calvett led with five goals and Ryan Turner kicked four.
