JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The name of oil businessman Muhammad Riza Chalid (MRC) has surfaced in the investigation of an alleged corruption case related to the management of PT Minyak dan Gas Bumi (Perseroda) in Bekasi City, which is being investigated by the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung).

Riza’s name emerged after the Kejagung searched several locations in Bekasi and Jakarta to trace alleged irregularities in the oil well management cooperation with PT Pertamina EP.

The Kejagung indicated there is an overlap between this case and companies owned or invested in by Riza Chalid.

However, investigators are still examining the connections based on evidence found during the series of raids.

“It’s indicated, one of them is with companies owned or subsidiaries invested in by the person named MRC who we are currently questioning. There is an intersection. We will see the evidence; it’s under further examination,” said Anang Supriatna, head of the Kejagung’s Legal Information Center, in a statement on Friday (18/9/2026).

Riza Chalid’s name is in the spotlight as he is also a suspect in the alleged corruption case involving procurement of crude oil and refinery products at Petral during the 2008–2015 period.

In the Petral case, Riza is on the Kejagung’s wanted list.

Prior to Riza Chalid’s name being mentioned, investigators from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) had conducted searches at several locations related to the management case of PT Minyak dan Gas Bumi (Perseroda) Bekasi City.

The raids were carried out on Thursday (17/9/2026).

Anang explained that these actions are part of the corruption investigation into the joint operation (KSO) cooperation between PT Minyak dan Gas Bumi (Perseroda) Bekasi City and PT Pertamina EP from 2009 to 2024.

“The investigation team from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes has conducted a series of investigative actions related to alleged corruption and mismanagement of PT Minyak dan Gas Bumi (Perseroda) Bekasi City’s cooperation with PT Pertamina EP,” Anang said in a press release on Thursday.

Several locations searched were in Bekasi and Jakarta.

In Bekasi, investigators searched the Bekasi City Regional Secretariat office, the Legal Section office of the Regional Secretariat, the PT Minyak dan Gas Bumi Bekasi City office, the Bekasi City Environment Office, and the Bekasi City Revenue Agency.

Meanwhile, in Jakarta, the investigators searched the office of Foster Oil & Energy Pte. Ltd. located at Sampoerna Strategic, Jalan Sudirman.

Anang said the searches were conducted to collect evidence needed for the investigation.
