Roelf Meyer says restoring US-SA relations is vital for economy - EWN
South Africa’s ambassador to the United States, Roelf Meyer, said that it mattered that the country restored its relations with the US because it was the world’s biggest economy.
Launching his political memoir at the Cape Town Press Club, Meyer was careful not to share too much about the difficulties of his current posting.
But he said that despite the headwinds South Africa had been facing from the Trump administration, his goal was to smooth over the tensions.
Just more than three months into his tenure in the United States, Ambassador Roelf Meyer said the government must find ways to get out of the current situation with the US.
The US has made demands on the South African government largely as it relates to laws and policy fuelled by disinformation about alleged racial attacks against minority groups.
