Rohit Sharma has joined an unfortunate 90s club after missing out on a century in the third and final ODI against the West Indies on Saturday, October 3, in Mullanpur. Rohit became only the fifth batter to be dismissed in the 90s multiple times in ODIs against the West Indies. The others are Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Vusi Sibanda and Adam Gilchrist.

Rohit had scored a magnificent century in Guwahati and looked set for another hundred in Mullanpur. However, Keemo Paul ended his stay at the crease. Rohit was dismissed for 92 off 85 balls, hitting 10 fours and three sixes.

This was also the seventh time Rohit has been dismissed in the 90s in international cricket, with five of those instances coming in ODIs.MOST 90S DISMISSALS IN ODIS AGAINST WEST INDIESVirat Kohli - 2Virender Sehwag - 2Vusi Sibanda - 2Adam Gilchrist - 2Rohit Sharma -2HOW ROHIT PLAYED IN MULLANPUR

Rohit began cautiously, respecting the movement on offer, and got off the mark with a flick for two in the opening over. Rohit brought up his fifty off 58 balls, showing patience before gradually increasing the tempo. He initially relied on his trademark timing and placement, particularly through the off-side, before taking on the short ball. A pull for a 72m six off Alzarri Joseph showed his ability to shift gears, while he later swept the spinners with authority and found the gaps with well-timed drives and cuts.

Rohit also had an important partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad. After India lost Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli early, the pair added 137 runs to put the innings back on track. Rohit reached his half-century off 58 balls and then accelerated, scoring 42 of his next 27 deliveries.

There were, however, a few nervous moments along the way. West Indies reviewed an LBW decision against Rohit in the fifth over after Jayden Seales struck him on the pads. There was no bat involved, but ball-tracking showed the delivery would have missed the stumps.

Rohit survived another LBW scare against Alzarri Joseph, with the on-field decision overturned after the ball was shown to be sliding down leg. Motie also generated a stifled appeal later, but West Indies did not review.

Rohit eventually reached the 90s with back-to-back boundaries off Motie, only for Keemo Paul to dismiss him and deny him his 36th ODI century.- Ends
