Rowdy-sheeter stabbed to death at Nagole wine shop, childhood friend is suspect

A 33-year-old rowdy-sheeter was chased, attacked and stabbed to death by a group of men at a wine shop’s permit room in Nagole on Monday night. Nagole police suspect his childhood friend’s involvement in the murder.

Mohd Nayeem, a driver by profession, was drinking at the permit room around 9.20 p.m. when his friend Mahesh and others attacked him. Nayeem suffered stab injuries and died on the spot. A CCTV footage purportedly showing the murder has since been circulating on social media.

According to police, Nayeem and Mahesh had been friends since childhood but had a falling-out some time ago. The two had since frequently picked fights with each other, both on social media and in person.

Police suspect money dispute to be the motive. Nayeem reportedly owed Mahesh money and had been avoiding him for about six months. Mahesh, a resident of Nagole, learnt that Nayeem was at the permit room and went there, following which the attack took place.

Mahesh is absconding and no arrests have been made so far.

Police are investigating Nayeem’s previous criminal cases and the circumstances leading to the attack. Further details are awaited.
