MOSCOW, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Russia will begin using its domestically developed dendritic cell-based cancer vaccine CaTeVac in 2027 to treat patients with soft tissue sarcomas, the office of Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said Thursday.

Preclinical trials of the vaccine have been completed, and documents are being prepared to obtain authorization for its production and clinical use, the office said in a statement.

The vaccine is designed to train a patient's immune system to recognize and destroy tumor cells, it said.

In the future, the vaccine could also be used to treat melanoma, kidney cancer, primary central nervous system tumors, and malignant solid tumors for which standard treatment options have been exhausted, the statement added. ■
