The Western Cape has recorded 15 confirmed cases, while three are in Gauteng and one is in KwaZulu-Natal.
Thirteen of the cases were recorded between 13 August 2026 and 17 September 2026, suggesting rapid local transmission.
Mpox is mainly spread through close physical contact with an infected person or contaminated materials such as bedding, clothing and towels.
