Sagawa: Up to 53 mil. customer records may have leaked | NHK WORLD-JAPAN News - NHKニュース
Japan's Sagawa Express says up to about 53 million personal records may have been leaked following unauthorized access to its system.
The major delivery firm said on October 1 that a cyberattack on its parcel tracking service may have exposed the personal data of senders and recipients.
Sagawa said on Friday that a follow-up investigation found that up to 53.23 million records may have been leaked.
It says they include the names, addresses and phone numbers of people who sent or received parcels between June 21 and the end of September.
The names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses registered with the company's Smart Club members-only service may have also been leaked.
Corporate and other customers who have shipping rate agreements with the company may have also had their names, addresses and phone numbers compromised.
Sagawa says the figure includes a significant number of duplicate records, and that it is working to determine the exact number affected.
The company apologized for the considerable inconvenience and concern caused to its customers and others affected.
