Samajwadi Party irritated by Lord Ram's name, just like Babur: Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday attacked the Samajwadi Party, saying it gets as "irritated" at the mention of Lord Ram as Mughal emperor Babur did. He also accused the SP of creating hurdles in religious events while addressing a conference of 'Shakti Kendra' convenors from the BJP's western region.

At the event, which was also attended by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Adityanath accused the SP, the BSP and the Congress of promoting dynastic politics and casteism. He said these parties had turned power into a means to serve their own vested interests.

Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said, "The SP gets as irritated at the mere mention of the name of Lord Ram as Babur did... Only the devotees of 'Bajrangi' (Lord Hanuman) can give a befitting reply to Babur's followers and that is precisely why we have come here to call upon all of you." He said the SP creates hurdles in religious events.

Adityanath said the country had been afflicted by the politics of dynasty and caste because of the SP, the BSP and the Congress. He said that as this trend continued, politics moved towards a self-serving mindset.

He also claimed that attempts were being made to revile India's Sanatan tradition. However, he said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a 'New India' was working with a resolve to completely eradicate the mindset of servitude and was taking pride in its heritage.

He said this was visible in the construction of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the temple of Lord Ram at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, along with the ongoing beautification and revitalisation of Mathura and Vrindavan.
