Sandigan justice rebuffs 4-6 week recovery plan for Romualdez: Minumura na kami ng tao - GMA Network

Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Ronald Moreno scored Thursday the four-to-six week recovery plan for Leyte Representative and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

“Minumura na kami ng tao rito (The public has been cursing us here),” Moreno said during Day 2 of the hearing on Romualdez’s motion for hospital detention.

He said Romualdez’s blood pressure reached as much as 170/110 on Thursday, prompting his doctors to adjust the level of medicines given to him.

He said the medicine for controlling blood pressure was given two hours earlier at 6 pm, while the medicine to address sleep deprivation was adjusted from half a tablet to one tablet.

“He can be transferred to another facility with the same capacity, but at this time, it might not be appropriate. I feel his [medical] condition has to be controlled first before allowing him to be transferred,” Sy said.

“It would take him four to six weeks to recover from his stress factors. It (transfer) would not be ideal, knowing what is going on. He is under extreme stress,” he added.

Sy conceded that the pending criminal case and his warrant of arrest were included in the factors as to why the lawmaker was suffering from extreme stress, among other ailments such as hypertension and diabetes.

“I think it is a big factor,” he said.

Sy, however, said that Romualdez can be transferred to another facility for examination by government doctors.

“Puwede naman (That can be done),” he said. —AOL, GMA News
