Sanitation charges to be sought from Oct 1

The delivery of sanitation fee challans to citizens will commence from October 1. According to the excise department, a uniform sanitation fee across Punjab's urban areas will be charged. The fee will be collected alongside property tax, and the department has initiated preparations for the collection. The monthly sanitation fees will be Rs300 for houses up to five marla, Rs500 for five to 10 marla, Rs1,000 for 10 to 20 marla, Rs2,000 for 20 to 40 marla and Rs5,000 for larger than 40 marla. The fees have been set at Rs500 for small, Rs1,000 for medium and Rs3,000 for large commercial units. The excise department will handle the printing of sanitation bills in conjunction with conducting door-to-door surveys. The department will also be responsible for addressing complaints and making necessary corrections to the bills.
