Anuradha Lekhi Gupta has paid an emotional tribute to her husband, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, remembering him as a gifted storyteller, devoted father and the backbone of their family. Gupta, 57, died on October 30 after suffering a serious head injury, reportedly following a fall at his Mumbai home.

His death shocked the Hindi film industry, where he had worked for more than three decades. Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Farah Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and several other colleagues paid their last respects on October 31, while police began investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

In a post shared on her private Instagram account and quoted by Times Now, Anuradha described Gupta as the funniest man she knew and the most optimistic person in her life. She added a touch of their shared humour, saying even his blood group was B positive.

Anuradha said she was Gupta's queen, while he was her Tom, who always kept bothering the Jerry in her. Remembering him, she wrote, β€œThe greatest storyteller I knew. The best father in this whole universe. The single most generous man I knew. Generous to a fault, if I can say that. The man who wooed me with a freaking omelette. The best you've ever eaten.”

She described Gupta as a man who lived like a king and had a heart too big for his chest. His soul, she said, was too soft for the film industry. She added that he never held a grudge, was a true friend and a fabulous host.

β€œWords do actually fall short for this man. Sanjay Gupta, I know I'd have liked to have had many, many, many more years with him. But for now, just one day,” she wrote.

Concluding the tribute, Anuradha told her husband, whom she also called β€œGupteshwar”, that she loved him. Keeping their humour alive, she added, β€œI've been told today that you won't stop following me. Let go, Baba.”Film industry gathers to bid farewell

Abhishek Bachchan joined Farah Khan, Rakesh Roshan, Fardeen Khan and others at Gupta's Mumbai residence before his final journey to the Versova crematorium. Family members, friends and colleagues gathered to pay their respects and support his family.

Ronit Roy, among the first to arrive, struggled to hold back tears. Rohit Roy was also visibly emotional, while filmmaker Milap Zaveri appeared shaken as he reached the residence. Sudhanshu Pandey and Ashoke Pandit were among the other members of the film fraternity who visited Gupta's home.

Gupta reportedly fell in the bathroom of his Mumbai residence during the night. The incident was discovered early the following morning. Versova police registered an accidental death report and began investigating the circumstances. Police said no evidence of foul play had been found so far.

Sanjay Gupta made his directorial debut with Aatish: Feel The Fire in 1994. He later directed films including Jung, Kaante, Musafir, Shootout at Wadala and Kaabil.- EndsALSO READ | Sanjay Gupta funeral: Viral video claims daughter made obscene gesture at paps
