The organisation said it will first engage the government, fuel suppliers and taxi operators to explore ways of cushioning the fuel cost blow.
On Tuesday night, the cost of diesel rose to R33 a litre for the first time, while petrol now costs R30 a litre.
SANTACO said it will only communicate its position once consultations are concluded.
