SASSA beneficiaries can now take note of the October 2026 payment dates. The agency has confirmed when Older Persons, Disability and Child Support Grants will be paid.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released the payment dates for social grants in October 2026, giving beneficiaries clarity on when toΒ expect their money.
IOL previously reported that South Africa's social grant system is undergoing one of its biggest verification drives in years, with SASSA planning to review more than 350,000 grants this financial year while introducing new measures aimed at reducing long queues and improving service delivery.
The reviews are aimed at making sure beneficiaries still meet the requirements for the grants they receive. SASSA checks whether there have been changes in a beneficiary's income, financial position, marital status, medical condition or other circumstances.
The agency is also introducing measures to improve service delivery and reduce long queues at its offices. These include recruiting more than 1,000 contract workers, adding staff to assist with grant applications and reviews, and expanding digital services.
The measures come after complaints from beneficiaries about long waiting times at SASSA offices, particularly during grant review periods.
