School Scrabble championship regional round to be held in Kottayam

The Kottayam regional round of the All India School Scrabble Championship 2026 will be held at the KPS Menon Hall of the Kottayam Public Library on Saturday (September 19).

Organised by the Kottayam Scrabble Club (KSC) and the Scrabble Association of India (SAI), the event will bring together 98 students from 21 schools across Kerala. The Kottayam round is the All Kerala regional round and one of 10 regional qualifying tournaments being held across the country.

The participants will compete in two categories – Seniors (Grades 7 and 8) and Juniors (Grades 5 and 6) – over five rounds, followed by a final quiz round. The top two players in each category will qualify for the All India School Scrabble Championship to be held in Bengaluru in December.

The regional round will be conducted under the direction of Siddharth Nithyanand, president of the Scrabble Association of India and a committee member of the World English Language Scrabble Players Association (WESPA), the apex international body for English-language Scrabble.
