Senior IPS officer A. Arun transferred; placed in Vacancy Reserve amid Veeramani POCSO case

Senior IPS officer A. Arun, who had served as Chennai Police Commissioner and was currently ADGP, Tamil Nadu Police Academy, has been transferred and brought to Vacancy Reserve (VR) without posting.

The transfer comes amid controversy over inaction of city police in the POCSO Act complaint involving Gem Granites’ owner, R. Veeramani.

Coimbatore Commissioner N. Kannan IPS has also transferred and brought to VR.

According to Ranjan Kumar, President of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee’s Scheduled Caste Department, he had submitted a complaint to the Chennai police in November 2024 seeking action against the industrialist and his associate Shanti. However, no action was taken.

Against this backdrop, Arun, who is now serving as Additional DGP/Director, Tamil Nadu Police Academy, and Kannan, IGP/Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, have been placed under compulsory wait, according to a government order.
