Seven persons were arrested by the Kandali police near Jolarpet town in Tirupattur on Thursday on charges of possessing sharp weapons.

Police identified the arrested persons as M. Ganesh, 21; A. Ranjith, 25; A. Praveen, 27; M. Anthonyraj, 28; J. Salman, 23; N. Appu, 23, and K. Usman, 25. They are residents of Bengaluru.

According to police, a special team intercepted a speeding car while they were conducting vehicle checks on Kandali Main Road. Upon intercepting the car, the police found country-made bombs and sharp weapons in it. The occupants were allegedly planning to attack the members of a rival gang following a fallout over ganja peddling in Bengaluru.

Police said that a case was registered. The gang members were arrested and lodged at a sub-jail in Tirupattur.
