Home and Law Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar ordered the suspension of several police officers and personnel during surprise visits to different police stations in the metropolis on Friday, directing the force to strictly comply with police rules and improve its conduct towards citizens.
According to the home minister's spokesperson, Lanjar began the surprise visits at PS Ferozabad, where he inspected different sections of the station, the lock-up and other arrangements. He also spoke to citizens at the station, sought details about their complaints and directed the relevant officers to resolve their grievances promptly and provide them with all possible relief.
The minister also questioned detainees about the behaviour of police personnel and the facilities being provided to them.
Lanjar stressed that police officers and personnel must ensure attendance and perform their duties in uniform. "Police personnel will have to perform their duties in uniform. Duty without a uniform will not be tolerated under any circumstances," he said.
During the inspection of PS Ferozabad, the minister ordered the suspension of the station investigation officer (SIO) for violating police rules.
He later visited PS Aziz Bhatti, where he ordered the suspension of the SHO and other personnel over violations of police rules.
At PS Sharae Faisal, Lanjar ordered the suspension and demotion of the SHO and directed that other personnel involved in violations also be suspended.
The PS Defence SHO was also suspended during the minister's visit over violations of police rules.
