The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) must complete work on the pedestrian underpass between Marottichodu and Edappally Market (on NH 66) within two months, Kerala State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) Chairperson Alexander Thomas has ordered.

He sought a report from the NHAI’s project director and the District Police Chief, among others, in this regard. The Commission had registered a suo motu case based on news reports that the foot overbridge and pedestrian lines at the said place had become largely unusable due to the construction work on the underpass (near the upcoming flyover on the southern side of Edappally Junction).

The Commission also took note of a complaint in this regard submitted by Edappally-Thrikkakara NH Nadapatha Samrakshana Samithi convener Alumkal George in this regard.
