Sienna Spiro Wins Best New Artist at 2026 MTV VMAs - Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - British singer Sienna Spiro won Best New Artist at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA), adding her name to a list of past recipients that includes Nirvana, Eminem, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish.

“I didn’t think this would happen, so I just have to say thank you so much,” Spiro said in her acceptance speech as quoted by Rolling Stone. “Thank you to the fans and the people that voted for me. I love you. I can’t believe this.”

Spiro also thanked her team at Capitol Records, the women in her crew, her mother, and her sister before wrapping up her short speech with, “I don’t even know.”

Earlier in the night, Spiro made her MTV VMA stage debut with a performance of “Great Expectation.”

Like several of her fellow nominees, Spiro spent years making music and sharing it on TikTok before gaining wider attention.

Her jazzy sound, influenced by artists including Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, and Etta James, has helped distinguish her from other emerging performers.

Spiro had her breakthrough last fall with “Die on the Hill,” which introduced her music to a wider international audience ahead of the release of her debut album, Visitor, in 2026.

The 2026 Best New Artist category featured several rising performers, including Bella Kay, Cortis, Magnus Ferrell, Malcolm Todd, Myles Smith, and Stella Lefty.

Last year’s Best New Artist winner, Alex Warren, presented Sienna Spiro with her VMA.

Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards aired live on CBS and MTV and streamed on Paramount+ Premium from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
