Julius Malema told EFF supporters in Kokstad that former KZN ANC provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo’s control of the municipality would end after the November 4 local government elections.

Julius Malema told EFF supporters in Kokstad that former KZN ANC provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo’s control of the municipality would end after the November 4 local government elections.

EFF leader Julius Malema has described former ANC KwaZulu-Natal provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo as a “small boy” and said his control of the Greater Kokstad Municipality will come to an end after the November 4 local government elections.

Malema was speaking at the EFF’s KwaZulu-Natal manifesto rally at the Riverview Sports Field in Kokstad on Saturday as part of the party’s campaign for the November 4 local government elections.

He also blamed Mtolo for the EFF being unable to use a stadium for its rally.

“There’s no one who can stop the EFF, not in KZN, not in Gauteng, not in Limpopo, all over South Africa, all over Africa, no one can stop the EFF, especially a failure like Mtolo, who stopped us from going to a stadium.”

Malema said the EFF would hold its rallies regardless of the venue.

“We don't care about a stadium. We hold a rally everywhere. Even inside a river, we can have a rally because we are unstoppable.”

Malema alleged that people linked to Mtolo had been stealing money from the Kokstad municipality and said they would be arrested if the EFF took control.

“Mtolo is a small boy who can't do anything to the EFF.

''We are going to take Kokstad and arrest all his friends who have been stealing money from Kokstad municipality.”

He said Mtolo’s control of the municipality would end on election day.

“All of them, they must go and rot in jail because he controls this municipality. His control is coming to an end on the 4th of November.”

Malema said the youth of Kokstad would play a role in removing what he described as the municipality’s “rot” ahead of the election.

Malema said an EFF-led municipality would prioritise basic services, including clean drinking water and reliable electricity.

“We want clean water in every yard in Kokstad, in KZN. No one must drink water with anyone. Everybody must have water inside their yard coming through a tap and that must be drinkable water, not water that is going to make us sick.”

He also criticised the reliability of electricity during bad weather.

“We don't want electricity that is scared of weather. We want electricity that is reliable, that is affordable.”
