Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested three suspected cult members and recovered a firearm from them in Ijagun Town, Ogun State.

The suspects, identified as Samuel, Dapo and Favour, were arrested at about 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, during a security operation at Emmanuel Villa, Abapawa, Ijagun Town.

The operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected cultists in the area.

The Corps Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued yesterday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Ganzallo said that upon receiving the intelligence, operatives immediately mobilised to the area and conducted a security operation that led to the arrest of the three suspects.

β€œDuring the operation, one firearm was reportedly recovered from the suspects. The weapon was immediately secured by the operatives and preserved as an exhibit for further investigation,” he said.

He added that the suspects were taken into custody and subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba, for further investigation, interrogation and necessary legal action.

The recovered firearm was also handed over to the police as an exhibit in connection with the case.

Ganzallo commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-led action, assuring residents that the corps would continue its efforts to prevent cultism, armed robbery, violence and other criminal activities that threaten the safety and security of residents in the state.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security agencies about suspicious movements, cult-related activities, possession of illegal firearms and other criminal activities in their communities.
