Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, have neutralised three suspected terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and a motorcycle, as well as 28 cows and 13 sheep, during separate operations in Kaduna and Sokoto states.

The operations, conducted on October 29 and 30, 2026, involved a gun battle with armed terrorists in Kaduna State and a patrol in [Sokoto/Kano] State.

The Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, disclosed this in a statement released on Friday.

According to him, troops of Sector 1, while conducting a fighting patrol along the Shadow–Old Kuyello Road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on October 29, came under attack by armed terrorists.

He said the troops responded with superior firepower and repelled the attack.

“Subsequent pursuit and exploitation of the area led to the neutralisation of three terrorists and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, three rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle,” the statement said.

Sinivie added that no casualty was recorded among the troops during the encounter.

In a separate operation on October 30, troops of the same sector recovered 28 cows and 13 sheep abandoned by suspected cattle rustlers in Shanono town, Shanono Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

“On sighting the advancing patrol, the suspected criminals abandoned the animals and fled the area,” he said.

The military spokesman added that efforts were ongoing to hand over the recovered livestock to the appropriate authorities.

He reaffirmed the task force’s commitment to sustaining operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the North-West.

The statement urged members of the public to support security agencies with timely and credible information to facilitate ongoing operations and restore lasting peace and security in the region.
