Somchart to get final summons - Bangkok Post

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) will issue a final summons on Monday to Somchart Techathavorncharoen, a Phuket MP from the People's Party, to testify as a witness in an inquiry into property ownership and the alleged use of Thai nominees for foreign nationals, the Justice Ministry said.

Justice Minister Pol Lt Gen Rutthapon Naowarat said the DSI had already sent summonses three times, although the first notice did not reach him.

He said he was confident Mr Somchart would appear.

If the MP fails to appear on Monday, the DSI will file a complaint with Thung Song Hong police station under Section 24 of the Special Investigation Act, which provides penalties for non-compliance, Pol Lt Gen Rutthapon said. The main investigation would proceed regardless.

Asked whether an arrest warrant could be sought if Mr Somchart does not appear, the minister said investigators would review the details and proceed according to the law.

Pressed on whether that could include a warrant, he replied, "Yes."
