African Action Congress Presidential Candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has celebrated his son, Olukomi Sowore, on his 17th birthday in the United States. Sowore, who recently returned to the US after 20 months away from his family, described his son as strong, courageous and independent-minded. In a post on his X handle on Friday, the activist wrote, β€œToday is my comrade son Olukomi’s 17th birthday! Watching him grow into the young man he is today has been an incredible joy. Olukomi has an indomitable spirit, strong, courageous, independent-minded, and determined. Happy 17th birthday, my son and comrade!” Sowore had earlier disclosed that he had returned to his family home in New Jersey after spending 20 months away from his family. In another X post on Thursday, he said his absence was linked to what he described as repeated actions by the administration of President Bola Tinubu against him. β€œAfter 20 long months away from my family, I have finally arrived at our family home in New Jersey,” he wrote. Sowore thanked his lawyers and supporters for standing by him throughout the period. He also said he would visit several cities across the United States and Canada to engage Nigerians and supporters of his political movement before returning to Nigeria to continue his 2027 presidential campaign. β€œI am finally home with my family,” he said.
