Specially-abled student mocked over dance at Kashmir school, internet hits back

A specially-abled student from a school in Baramulla, Kashmir, turned a welfare programme into a lively celebration when he danced energetically to RRR's Nacho Nacho in front of an Army officer.

What should have remained a joyful moment, however, was followed by a wave of insensitive comments after a video of his performance was shared online.

Instagram user Yaqoob Lala shared the video on his account, showing the student performing in front of the officer during the programme.

In the video, the student danced enthusiastically to the song as the Army officer smiled and watched him perform.

At one point, he removed his blazer with a dramatic flourish and continued dancing, fully immersed in the performance. His expressive face and energetic moves added to the charm of the performance, as he appeared completely comfortable taking centre stage.

Lala captioned the video, “Student's performance on RRR song Nacho, in front of GOC dagger division Baramulla.”

While the video captured what appeared to be a cheerful interaction, some users chose to mock the student in the comments, with several making insensitive remarks about his disability.

Others, however, pushed back against the comments and pointed out the context behind the programme.

Another user said people should not make jokes about someone without knowing their condition, while another argued that appreciating someone who confidently expressed themselves was far better than ridiculing them.
