Srisailam temple gears up for Dasara festivities starting October 11

The 11th meeting of the Srisailam Devasthanam Trust Board was held under the chairmanship of Pothugunta Ramesh Naidu on Wednesday. Executive officer M. Srinivasa Rao, trust board members and special invitees participated in the meeting.

According to a press release, a total of 20 agenda items were discussed, of which 18 were approved and two were deferred.

Chairman Ramesh Naidu said elaborate arrangements will be made for the ‘Dasara Mahotsavams’ starting from October 11. Facilities for devotees will be prioritised and traditional art forms will be showcased during the ‘Gramotsavam’. The festivities will be streamed live daily, he added.

The board resolved to perform ‘Sahasra Chandi Sahita Maha Rudra Homam’ for ‘Loka Kalyanam’ during this year’s Dasara. Until now, only the ‘Sata Chandi Homam’ had been performed.

Among the major decisions, the board approved ₹3.20 crore for development of its adopted temple, the Kolanu Bharati (Saraswati) temple. Of the total money approved, ₹3.13 crore will be used for permanent works like completion of mandapa, Dwaja Pratishtha, Kalasa Sthapana, entrance arch, permanent queue lines, toilets, borewell and lighting, while ₹7 lakh will be allocated for temporary works.

Other approvals include the free use of toilets and bathhouses for devotees, ₹10 lakh for repairs to Nandiswara dormitory, illumination for Dasara festivities through e-procurement tenders, takeover of the IOCL petrol bunk by the Devasthanam from December 10, and integration of all CCTV cameras with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for crowd and vehicle management.
