Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the State government was working towards achieving 20,000 MW renewable energy generation capacity by 2030 to make Telangana a ‘Green Telangana’ and foster sustainable development.

Solar plants with a combined capacity of 1,768 kW are being installed on 379 government school buildings, while rooftop solar systems and solar pump sets are being set up in 27 model solar villages in Khammam district, he said.

Addressing a gathering after hoisting the national flag at the Police Parade Grounds in Khammam on the occasion of ‘Praja Palana Dinotsavam’ on Thursday, Mr. Vikramarka, who holds the Finance & Planning and Energy portfolios, said a one-MW solar plant has already been inaugurated at Rajupalem, and another was under construction.

Another 41 electricity substations had been sanctioned in addition to the existing 126 in the district, while an indoor substation in Khammam town had been sanctioned at a cost of ₹6.5 crore.

He said ₹394.80 crore in bank-linkage loans had been disbursed to 4,008 SHGs, ₹16.36 crore in ‘Stree Nidhi’ loans to 555 SHGs and ₹57.15 crore in interest-free loans to 52,059 SHGs.

Works on the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Scheme and Palair Link Canal had been accelerated to provide irrigation water to 1,38,790 acres of new ayacut, he said, highlighting flagship schemes including Indiramma Housing, Rythu Bharosa, free bus travel for women and fine rice.

Later, Mr. Vikramarka laid foundation stones for tourism infrastructure works costing ₹2.90 crore at Chirumarri Cheruvu tank, and a new library building costing ₹40 lakh in Mudigonda mandal.
