Steelers dealing with surprise WR injury ahead of Week 2 vs. Patriots

The Pittsburgh Steelers saw only one player listed on last week's injury report, but the same can't be said for their upcoming matchup against the New England Patriots, as the one of the team's star wide receivers picked up a surprise injury.

In Wednesday's practice report, the Steelers listed starting wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. as a limited participant due to a foot injury. This comes as quite a surprise, as there were no reports that Pittman suffered an injury of any kind following the Steelers' Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Pittman, who was traded to the Steelers in March 2026 after six seasons with the Indianapolis Colts (2020-2025), dealt with a leg injury during training camp. He was able to return to practice several weeks ago and wound up leading Pittsburgh's offense in receiving yards in his Week 1 debut with the Steel City brand of football.

Playing an important role opposite wide receiver DK Metcalf, Pittman will be an injured player to watch over the next few days, as his availability (or lack thereof) would be huge for the Steelers' Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots.
