Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers praises Week 1’s most unlikely heroes - Steelers Wire

Forget the stars on offense, defense, and special teams — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had plenty to say about the important people without helmets on Sunday.

Following the Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons, Rodgers took an opportunity to praise the unsung heroes in the victory: the field crew at Acrisure Stadium. Considering that there was a new grass playing surface installed and the University of Pittsburgh already played twice at Acrisure, Rodgers' comments should mean a lot to the field crew.

"Whoever was maintaining the field, bravo," Rodgers said via ESPN's Brooke Pryor.

The playing surface conditions at Acrisure Stadium have become infamous in recent years, with injuries and safety concerns getting so bad that players contacted the NFLPA and expressed ‘outrage’ over the situation.

While we're only one week into the Steelers' 2026 season, Rodgers' praise of the field upkeep serves as a reminder of the extensive efforts the team made this offseason to solve the playing surface woes.
