Steelers vs. Falcons: Atlanta receives QB update hours before kickoff - Steelers Wire
The Atlanta Falcons, who were dealing with major quarterback injuries, finally caught a break ahead of the Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, quarterback Cooper Rush, who suffered back spasms on Saturday, is reportedly feeling good to go for the Week 1 matchup against Pittsburgh.
"Falcons QB Cooper Rush, who experienced back spasms Saturday morning, is said to be feeling better this morning and is expected to be ready to start today’s opener against the Steelers, per source," Schefter wrote.
Rush, the Falcons' third-string quarterback, is receiving the starting opportunity after Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) and Michael Penix Jr. (knee) were ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Appearing in 38 games for the Dallas Cowboys and four games for the Baltimore Ravens, Rush has thrown for 20 touchdowns and 3,766 yards in his career.
The Steelers would be wise not to underestimate Rush after Tagovailoa and Penix were ruled out for Week 1, as this game could go sideways fast and easily become a classic Pittsburgh trap game.
