The incident took place in D-2 Block of Nand Nagri police station limits, where three to four houses were reportedly targeted. According to the affected families, the attackers pelted stones at the houses and also fired shots, leaving residents frightened and forcing many to stay indoors.

The group also allegedly targeted vehicles parked along the road. Several vehicles were damaged in the stone-pelting, according to local residents.OLD DISPUTE SUSPECTED BEHIND ATTACK

One of the affected families has alleged that the incident may be linked to an old dispute with some of the attackers.

According to the family, the dispute dates back around seven years. A police complaint had also been filed at the time, the family said.

The family suspects that the old rivalry may have prompted the late-night attack on their homes. However, the claim regarding the motive has not been independently established, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The sudden violence caused panic in the neighbourhood, with residents reportedly rushing inside their homes after hearing the sound of stone-pelting and gunfire.

Nand Nagri police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. By the time officers arrived, however, the attackers had reportedly fled the area.

Several videos related to the incident have since surfaced. Some of the footage reportedly shows young men pelting stones and damaging vehicles in the area.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the locality along with the videos circulating on social media to identify the people involved and establish the sequence of events.

Officials said an investigation is underway and appropriate legal action will be taken against those found responsible.

The incident has raised concerns among residents, particularly as Delhi remains on high alert. The reported firing, stone-pelting and damage to homes and vehicles in a residential area have added to concerns over public safety in northeast Delhi.
