Student dies after drowning in Tammileru canal; friend still missing

An Intermediate student, K. Pavan Kumar (17), succumbed while undergoing treatment after he was rescued from the Tammileru canal in Eluru. Meanwhile, his friend, Sk. Saleem Roshan, has been reported missing. Another student, J. Shyam Sunder, was rescued by the locals, the police said.

The trio, residents of Sanivarapupeta in Eluru, went to the canal to take a bath. Pavan Kumar died while undergoing treatment at a hospital, said Eluru Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) D. Sravan Kumar.

The Three Town police are investigating the case.
