Bhavani presenting thread-art portrait to Congress leader T. Jagga Reddy in Sangareddy on Sunday.
A 10-day effort to create a thread-art portrait of Congress leader T. Jagga Reddy helped a student from Kappad village in Sangareddy district seek his intervention in resolving a long-pending land dispute that has forced her to put her studies on hold.
Bhavani, a former student of a Model School, is pursuing the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) course and has already completed its first level. However, financial difficulties kept her away from studies for the past six months.
Her family owns 2.5 acres of land, but a dispute over the property has remained unresolved with the revenue authorities for the past 12 years. The inability to sell the property has aggravated their financial difficulties.
With her father suggesting that she discontinue her studies due to the family’s financial condition, Bhavani was determined to find a way to resume her education.
Having been interested in art since childhood, Bhavani decided to prepare a special gift for Jagga Reddy when she met him to seek his help. She spent 10 days painstakingly creating his portrait and presented it to Mr. Jagga Reddy.
On learning about the circumstances behind the gift, Mr. Jagga Reddy assured her that he would speak to Sangareddy Collector Prateek Jain and work towards resolving the issue. He also encouraged her not to give up her education and promised to extend support.
