Suspected gang member killed in shootout with cops in Durban - EWN

A suspected member of the infamous West Gang has been shot dead in Inanda, north of Durban.

He was involved in a shootout with police at a house on Wednesday night.

Officers said the man was wanted for a string of violent crimes, including murder, kidnapping and house robberies.

Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda explained: “Preliminary investigation suggests that the suspect was a feared member of the notorious West Gang and was amongst the young men who were seen firing guns in a recent viral video, which was presumably recorded in KwaMashu. 

“No police officer was injured during the shootout and a case of attempted murder on police officers was opened for investigation.”
