Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae is set to reshuffle her Cabinet on Thursday.

Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae is set to reshuffle her Cabinet on Thursday.

She is expected to retain key members from the Liberal Democratic Party while appointing a new minister from its coalition partner, the Japan Innovation Party.

Several key Cabinet members will likely remain in their posts. They include Chief Cabinet Secretary Kihara Minoru, Finance Minister Katayama Satsuki, Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu and Defense Minister Koizumi Shinjiro.

The prime minister will likely tap former JIP Secretary-General Nakatsuka Hiroshi for a Cabinet seat.

Preparations are underway for him to take charge of regulatory reform and related policies.

The new Cabinet is expected to be formally launched Thursday afternoon.
