Tamil Nadu woman cop pushed while breaking up fight, dies after fall

A woman head constable died after being pushed while trying to break up a clash between two groups of auto drivers at a government hospital in Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram district on Monday night.

Head Constable Kannagi was on duty at the Paramakudi Government Hospital when two groups of auto drivers clashed on the hospital premises.

The argument reportedly escalated into a physical fight, prompting Kannagi to intervene and try to separate those involved.

During the intervention, the head constable was pushed by people involved in the clash. She lost her balance, collapsed at the spot and later died during treatment.

Ramanathapuram District Superintendent of Police Sandeesh visited the Paramakudi Government Hospital and is conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Kannagi’s death.

Police are examining the events leading up to the clash and the circumstances in which Kannagi was pushed. The role of those involved in the fight is also being investigated. - Ends
