Task force to guard govt. land near Masula port from sand excavation

A special task force has been constituted with officials from the Revenue, Police, Mining and Machilipatnam Urba Development Authority (MUDA) Departments to prevent illegal mining and unauthorised excavation of sand in government lands and lands allotted for the expansion of Machilipatnam Port and its surrounding areas, said Machilipatnam RDO Sambasiva Rao.

The task force members conducted inspections in areas surrounding the port on Wednesday and checked whether any excavation was being carried out without the required permissions.

In a press statement issued by the Krishna district administration on Wednesday, the RDO pointed out that the State government has allotted approximately 1,400 acresas part of the second phase of Machilipatnam Port expansion and that special monitoring is being done to ensure that unauthorised excavation of sand and other minerals does not take place here. CCTV cameras are installed at various locations for this purpose, he said.

The RDO appealed to the public to immediately inform the authorities at 9849903962 if they come across any unauthorised mining, excavation of sand or illegal transportation of sand or minerals from government lands.
