Taxi boats to run along Bangkok canal - Bangkok Post

The Transport Ministry is pushing ahead with a taxi boat service on Klong Phasi Charoen, with electric and solar-hybrid boats planned for a route linking 15 piers.

Deputy Transport Minister Sanphet Bunyamanee said the service would provide an alternative to road travel while supporting tourism along the canal.

It is expected to carry more than 1,500 passengers a day when fully functional.

The 15 piers will include stops at tourist attractions such as Talat Phlu and Wat Kampeang Water Market.

Some will be newly built, while others are existing facilities being operated by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and local temples.

A study found that more than 77% of Thai respondents were ready to switch to taxi boats for their commute once the service launches.
