Teenager, cop among three killed in road crashes

Three people, including a police constable and a 14-year-old boy, were killed while another teenager was injured in separate road accidents in different parts of the metropolis on Sunday. According to police, a 28-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Farooq Shah, was killed after an unidentified speeding vehicle hit his motorcycle near Halal Hotel close to the Superhighway Toll Plaza in the Gadap City area. The victim, a resident of New Karachi, had reportedly gone out with friends when the accident occurred. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and was later handed over to his brother. The family declined to pursue legal action. In another accident, a 14-year-old boy was killed and another teenager seriously injured near Islamia College on New MA Jinnah Road in the Jamshed Quarters area. The victims were identified as Bilal, 14, and Aman, 15. Both were residents of PIB Colony. PS Jamshed Quarters SHO Imran Afridi said the accident occurred due to speeding. The injured teenager was taken to JPMC, while Bilal's body was handed over to his family after completion of legal formalities. Separately, a police constable was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a water tanker parked on the roadside on Shahrah-e-Bhutto, around 1.5 kilometres from the KIA Toll Plaza in the Korangi Industrial Area. The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Mohammad Alyan Tariq, a resident of Malir's Khokhrapar area and a policeman posted at the Rapid Response Force (RRF) headquarters.
