A team of power staff of SPDCL leaving Suryapet for cyclone-hit areas of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
The two distribution utilities of Telangana have dispatched emergency material along with nearly 2,000 staff to help restoration of power supply in the Arnab cyclone-hit areas in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, following a request from that State.
Several power staff teams were sent to the cyclone-hit areas from Telangana on Tuesday along with some emergency material required for restoration of power supply. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Energy Minister G. Ravi Kumar spoke to their Telangana counterparts A. Revanth Reddy and M. Bhatti Vikramarka, respectively, over phone on Tuesday and sought help in restoration of power supply.
It was explained that over 16,000 electric poles fell due to the cyclone in Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Eluru, NTR, Guntur, Pravathipuram, Alluri Sitaramaraju, and a few other districts. A.P. has the help of men and material from Telangana for the restoration work.
On getting instructions from Mr. Vikramarka the Chairmen and Managing Directors of TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL Jitesh V. Patil and K. Varun Reddy deputed the team from their Discoms to A.P. along with some material. While SPDCL is sending over 1,300 of its staff, NPDCL is sending nearly 650 staff along with emergency response vehicles, battery-powered tree pruners and other equipment.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vikramarka said the deputation of men and material to A.P. for the power supply restoration work was an indication of brotherhood between the two Telugu States.
